Sara Beanlands, MA

Senior Archaeologist, Historian



Sara combines her formal training in history and anthropology with over ten years of practical experience in cultural resource management.  She has worked extensively throughout Nova Scotia and in Newfoundland and Ontario, and has undertaken a wide range of archaeological projects for both public and private sector clients, including large-scale utility, wind power, hydroelectric, mining and linear developments.  Graduating from Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Social Anthropology in 1998, and completing a Master’s degree in History from Saint Mary’s University in 2010, Sara has accumulated considerable experience in archival and historical research and has published journal articles in both Canada and the United Kingdom.

Stephen Garcin, MA, RPA

Senior Archaeologist


Stephen has over ten years of archaeological consulting experience working with the forestry, oil and gas, mining, transportation, infrastructure, utility, wind power and residential development industries. Stephen has been involved with a wide range of archaeological assessments and excavations of both Precontact and Historic sites throughout Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario. This experience ranges from developing large multi-year Heritage Management Programs for some of the major forestry companies in northern Alberta to screening and assessment of small infrastructure and transportation projects throughout Nova Scotia. He also has extensive experience employing GIS applications to archaeological fieldwork and reporting. Stephen graduated in 2002 from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and completed his Masters degree in Anthropology from the University of Alberta in 2006.
